Functional Fitness for Pregnancy

For the women who wants to keep moving in a way that is safe, effective & enjoyable for pregnancy, but is unsure what is right for her.

REBUILD

Designed for the Mums - no matter how long you’ve been in the ‘hood, and the soon-to-be Mums. REBUILD is an 8 week program suitable for pregnancy, from birth or at any stage of a woman’s fitness journey. A pelvic floor & core focused program, to help women rebuild a strong base & support her return to exercise journey.

This program is perfect for pregnancy and postpartum and has been created to help you rebuild your base. Featuring what Brooke calls her ‘less-sexy, but ESSENTIAL’ exercises that everyone can benefit from.

Every woman needs a strong base. REBUILD yours, begin to move with confidence and be on your way to getting back to the fun and fancy stuff (the way you love to move!), sooner!

Short, effective, low impact, and low intensity workouts that can be done at home while your little one sleeps, cheers you on, or while you ‘Netflix & REBUILD’.

Whether you want to get back to running, CrossFit, HIIT, S&C or other forms of training, this program is every Mums must-have!

What’s included:

  • 3x workouts per week.

  • Short, low impact, low intensity workouts.

  • Pelvic floor, core, breathing and body weight focused.

  • Designed to REBUILD your strength from the inside out, to support a strong, healthy pregnancy, or to lay the foundations on her return to exercise program following birth.

  • REBUILD the base to gain the strength and confidence to progress to the BASE program.

  • Key equipment: resistance band, mat, set of light free weights.

 

BASE

Build a stronger BASE with this program. Perfect if you’ve completed REBUILD, or are fresher in starting (or re-starting) your fitness journey.

This 6 week program will build you a stronger BASE as we progressively add more load, intensity and impact, helping you build both strength and fitness. A fantastic program for helping set strong foundations to lift, run, play sport, or tackle the STRIVE program.

What’s included:

  • 3 workouts per week, plus 1 optional pelvic floor and core focused session per week.

  • Designed to help women build a stronger BASE and get back to lifting, running, sport, or the STRIVE program in a timely manner.

  • A progressive and smart approach to returning to exercise post baby, coming back from injury, illness, those starting an exercise routine, or wanting to add a little more to their training.

  • A great program to complete following the REBUILD program.

  • 25 - 35 minute workouts that can be completed at home or the gym. You choose, based on your time and energy available.

  • Low - high impact, modifications always offered.

  • Equipment required: Weights are used throughout the program. A set or few of dumbbells, Y bells or kettlebells will be great, a resistance band and mat. All movements can be modified to suit the equipment you do have!

STRIVE

Featuring Brooke’s signature training style, the 8 Week STRIVE program features a fusion or her best hybrid style workouts. High intensity, high (or low) impact, designed to build cardiovascular fitness, endurance, & strength, with timely, effective sessions.

Perfect for the busy woman who wants to get her workout in and see and feel the results!

STRIVE is most advanced of the Balance by Brooke programs, and is not for the faint hearted. This program still comes with regressions and options to cater for every woman’s fitness journey.

The STRIVE program has been designed and is perfect if you’re looking to:

• Improve your overall health and mental wellbeing

• Increase your strength & fitness

• Ready for a new challenge

• Tired of the same boring programs

• Mix up your training routine – forget the average group fitness class or gym workout!

Many of the STRIVE workouts feature equipment, yet it has been designed so that you can complete at home, the gym or both!

What can you expect?

High intensity, high (or low) impact, designed to build cardiovascular fitness, endurance, & strength, with timely, effective workouts.

Perfect for the busy woman who wants to get her workout in and see and feel the results!

STRIVE Program, Functional fitness for pregnancy, for a lifetime of athleticism

What’s included:

  • 3 STRIVE workouts per week.

  • 1 optional (but recommended) pelvic floor and core focused session.

  • 2 low intensity steady state (LISS) cardio sessions*. You are encouraged to complete LISS session of your choice. Be it walking, jogging, riding, swimming a group fitness class or other. These are not included in the program, but Brooke recommends you incorporate 2 additional cardio based sessions, to complement your 3 STRIVE sessions each week.

  • Designed to help women STRIVE to thrive and operate at a level of optimal ‘balance’ for them.

  • Exercise regressions listed based on fitness levels, personal journey and equipment you may or may not have available.

  • 30-40 minute workouts. You choose your total volume of work based on your time and energy (because we all know that can change daily!)

  • Equipment required: This program can be done at home or the gym. Weights are used throughout the program. It is recommended that you have access to a set of weights (dumbbells or kettlebells), a barbell & plates, pull up bar or ring rows, slam/wall/dead ball, cardio machine, resistance band and mat.

  • Don’t have the above? Don’t fear! Exercise options are ALWAYS offered, so no-one misses out and is totally achievable from home. All movements can be modified to suit the equipment you do have!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the programs home or gym based?

Functional Fitness for Pregnancy, REBUILD and BASE programs have been designed to easily be completed at home, however can be done at the gym if that’s where you prefer to get your sweat on! You will need at least a set of weights, mat and resistance band. These programs can also be followed at the gym. The STRIVE program features more equipment and can be followed at home or the gym. ALL movements in EVERY program come with modifications to suit both your journey, and the equipment that you have available.

What equipment do I need?

Pregnancy, REBUILD & BASE - A set of weights (dumbbells, Y bells, kettlebells), resistance band, mat

STRIVE: A set of weights (dumbbells, Y bells, kettlebells), barbell, slam ball (wall ball, med ball or similar).resistance band, mat.

I have an injury, pelvic floor dysfunction or other that sometimes holds me back from exercise. Are the programs suitable for me?

This is the PERFECT app for you! All of Brooke’s programs are designed with the woman in mind. As a mum of three and lifelong athlete navigating her own journey with pelvic floor dysfunction, Brooke is passionate about making programming challenging and appropriate for every woman’s journey, and how she has designed all 5 of her programs with this in mind. You take the choice of the movement or the given alternatives, whether you want high or low impact, standing, seated or other.

Are there meal plans?

In the NUTRITION space you will find 100’s of delicious, nourishing recipes with their macro breakdown to help inspire your weekly meal plan and keep you fueled for your sessions. You won’t find any restrictive meal plans.

Is Balance by Brooke available on both iPhone and Android?

It sure is! Balance by Brooke uses Progressive Web App technology. This means that there's no need for you to download an app via the Apple or Google Stores. Below are some instructions on how to download to your specific device.

Android - Launch Chrome for Android and open the website or web page you want to pin to your home screen. Tap the menu button and tap Add to home screen. You’ll be able to enter a name for the shortcut and then Chrome will add it to your home screen. The icon will appear on your home screen like any other app shortcut or widget, so you can drag it around and put it wherever you like. Chrome for Android loads the website as a “web app” when you tap the icon so will operate exactly like other app on your phone. Other popular Android browsers also offer this feature. For example, Firefox for Android can do this if you tap the menu button, tap the Page option, and tap Add to Home Screen.

iPhone, iPad, & iPod Touch - Launch the Safari browser on Apple’s iOS and navigate to the website you want to add to your home screen. Tap the Share button on the browser’s toolbar (that’s the rectangle with an arrow pointing upward). It’s on the bar at the top of the screen on an iPad, and on the bar at the bottom of the screen on an iPhone or iPod Touch. Scroll down and tap the Add to Home Screen icon in the Share menu. You can also save the app to your phone's homescreen if you're using the latest version of Chrome for iOS. Tap the Share button (that’s the rectangle with an arrow pointing upward) on the right of the browsers URL / address bar, then scroll down and hit 'Add to Home Screen'.  You’ll be prompted to name the shortcut before tapping the Add button. The shortcut can be dragged around and placed anywhere, including in app folders — just like a normal app icon. When you tap the icon, it will load the website in a normal tab inside the Safari browser app.
